My Aunty Shelly is Doing Her Thing...

Here's some footage I came across on YouTube of First Lady Michelle Obama making a surprise visit to Haiti just last week. She is the epitome of poise, grace and compassion. Say what you want about this administration's policies and politics, but things like this are reassuring to me...

BLOG 26: The Golden Rule... Revisited.

As far back as I can remember, I've known the "golden rule." I try to live by it everyday. If I'm being honest, I'm sometimes selective about who I follow the rule with. However, across the board with my friends and family, I DEFINITELY follow it.

I keep my friends and family in a special compartment in my heart. And, I feel like my behavior reflects that. I'm respectful, honest and considerate when it comes to other people's feelings. I would hope that I would get that same treatment in return.

This brings me to my current dilemma. A recent turn of events has me questioning my practice of the golden rule. The rule tells us to treat people the way we want to be treated. But what do I do when I consistently follow it, and am not treated equally in return?

I would like to submit my own personal revision to the golden rule, one that would work perfectly in this situation.

NADIA'S NEW GOLDEN RULE:
"Do unto others as they are currently doing unto you...
and, if that doesn't work, whoop that trick."

So what do you guys think? Am I defeating the purpose of the golden rule by concocting this (fabulous) revision? *sigh* I guess the biggest challenge of being a Christian is loving those who persecute you. Haha. But I'm just sayin...
